Rajeev Gandhi Industrial Training InstitutionBarsingsar Mine & Thermal Power Station , NLC - "NavRatna" Company
The Barsingsar Lignite Mine cum Thermal Power Project is the first project of NLC outside the state of Tamilnadu. This project is unique in several aspects. The lignite Mine is one of the biggest opencast mine in Rajasthan adopting conventional mining equipments both in overburden and lignite excavation. The associated pit head power station(2 X 125 MW capacity) is operating with eco-friendly CFBC boilers.
NLC wished to help the marginalized sections of the Project Affected People in and around Barsingsar Village in the areas of education, training, and employment. There is ample demand in the market for various trades and Govt. of India has stipulated ITI qualification for requirement of labour in industries. Hence it was proposed to establish an ITC in Barsingsar. Initially to start with, four trades are identified which is having maximum job potential in Rajasthan State. Subsequently depending upon the requirement, further trades are proposed to be introduced.
Every year about 64 candidates will be passing out with requisite skills. On acquiring I.T.I. Qualification, these candidates could meet future requirements for various types of jobs within the State as well as in Central Government Departments/Undertakings. An Educational Society named "RAJEEV GANDHI EDUCATIONAL SOCIETY" has been formed and was registered with Registrar of Societies, Bikaner under Government of Rajasthan to establish the Industrial Training Centre. T he Society is manned by the executives of Barsingsar Project.
"RAJEEV GANDHI INDUSTRIAL TRAINING CENTRE" is meant only to provide technical training facility to the students of the villages surrounding the project. By running of the ITC through the Society NLC does not undertake any responsibility to provide job opportunity to the products of the ITC in any of NLC's Projects.
